peugot RCZ

UPDATE: Live gallery from the launch added

The Peugeot RCZ has been launched at the Bangsar Shopping Centre in KL moments ago. This 2+2 coupe comes in two versions – a 156 hp/240 Nm variant paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission and a hotter 200 hp/275 Nm model with a 6-speed manual.

The latter is a pleasant surprise, and we wouldn’t have been surprised if Nasim decided against importing it, citing the usual “not enough buyers to justify” excuse. Good job!

Both are turbocharged and direct injected 1.6-litre engines from the Prince family, but the 200 hp unit adds on variable valve lift over the standard VVT.

The manual, which makes its 275 Nm of torque from just 1,700 rpm, does 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds. The 156 hp auto does the same in 8.4 seconds. Top speed is 237 km/h for the manual and 213 km/h for the auto.

Feature wise, the Austrian made RCZ comes with dynamic xenons (with washers), dynamic rear wing with two levels, 19-inch alloys, auto headlights and wipers, Nappa leather (dashboard is leather lined as well), electric seats (with memory for driver) and a six-speaker JBL audio system (with 240W amp).

The manual gets some added kit, which includes a smaller diameter steering wheel, larger cluster display and larger 340 mm brake discs (from 302 mm). It also has a lower anti collision bar and special hub carriers that are claimed to offer sharper handling. There’s also enhanced engine acoustics over the 156 hp engine.

For those of you who have read our test drive report of the RCZ from Spain one year ago and wondered what took them so long, well, JPJ weren’t too happy with the standard factory tint on the RCZ’s glasshouse (the double bubble glass roof is one of the car’s stylistic highlights), and Nasim had to specially order a clear version of the glass from the factory.

Two colours are available – Pearlescent White and Haria Grey. The RCZ is priced at RM218,888 for the 156 hp automatic and RM223,888 for the 200 hp manual (OTR prices with insurance). Both cars will be displayed at BSC throughout this weekend, so head here for some live viewing.

Plot

Michael Kovak, disillusioned with his father, a mortuary owner, decides to enter a seminary school and abdicate his vows upon completion, thereby getting him a free college degree. Four years pass and Michael is being ordained to the deaconate at the seminary. However, after ordination he writes a letter of resignation to his superior, Father Matthew, citing a lack of faith.

Father Mathew, apparently wanting to talk Michael out of his decision attempts to catch up to Michael on the street. He trips as he walks over a curb, causing a biker to swerve into the path of an oncoming car. The young woman, believing Michael to be a priest after seeing his clerical garb, asks him for absolution. Unable to refuse, Michael comforts her and performs the ritual absolving her sins. Seeing how calmly he handled the situation, Father Superior tells Michael he is called to be a priest, whether Michael believes this or not; he later approaches Michael with an invitation to travel to Rome in order to attend a class on exorcism. Michael reluctantly accepts after being told by Father Matthew that he will be levied a $100,000 student loan if he leaves immediately, but that if he still desires to resign from his position after taking the class, then he may be free to leave.

During classes, he meets a young woman, Angelina, who is also taking the course. He soon learns that she is a reporter who has been asked to cover the course for an article in a newspaper. Realizing Michael is a skeptic and is very tentative in his faith, Father Xavier later asks Michael to see a friend of his, Father Lucas, who is a renowned Welsh Jesuit exorcist. Michael agrees and meets Father Lucas at his home, where he sees one of the priest's patients: a pregnant sixteen-year-old girl. It is later revealed that she was raped by her father, which led to her possession. However, Michael remains skeptical, even after witnessing several preternatural events, such as the girl coughing up three long nails and fluently speaking English. She pointedly reminds Michael of the last patient he performed embalming on and of his loathing for his father.

He later speaks with Angelina again, who asks him to relay the information that he gets from Father Lucas to her, as she has tried to get an interview with him many times now but has been refused, and Michael declines. Meanwhile, the possessed girl's condition worsens, which prompts Father Lucas and Michael to have her taken to a hospital for further care. There, Father Lucas performs another exorcism on the girl while Michael observes; they leave the hospital room together with Michael leaving the hospital and Father Lucas staying overnight outside of the girl's room. Late that night, she miscarries, and the baby dies from cardiac arrest and the mother via blood loss. Disheartened, Father Lucas feels he has failed her. After Michael sees this he decides to confer with Angelina.

After the death of the young woman, Father Lucas begins behaving strangely, exhibiting signs of demonic possession. Michael and Angelina later find him sitting outside of his house in the rain. Father Lucas takes them into his house and, knowing himself to be possessed, tells Michael that he needs to find Father Xavier in order to perform the exorcism. Angelina and Michael try desperately to contact and find Father Xavier; however, they learn that he is out of contact for 3 days.

Learning this, Michael decides to perform the exorcism on his own, with Angelina present. After constant rebuking by the demon and a long, drawn out fight, Michael regains his once lost faith and is able to force the demon to reveal its name, which is Baal. He completes the exorcism and the demon leaves Father Lucas. Successful, Michael leaves Rome, returning to the United States and to his life. The final scene of the film shows Michael, now Father Michael Kovak, entering a confessional and beginning to hear a girl's confession, revealing that he has found his calling as a priest and did not resign.

Lost Bladesman

Plot

The film opens with a scene of Cao Cao attending Guan Yu's funeral - Guan's decapitated head is buried with a wooden statue in place of his body. The scene then flashbacks to 20 years ago: Guan Yu had been separated from his sworn brother Liu Bei, and he temporarily served Cao Cao while he waited for news of Liu's whereabouts. At the Battle of Baima between Cao Cao and his rival, Yuan Shao, Guan Yu slew Yuan's general Yan Liang and lifted the siege on Baima. As a reward, Cao Cao recommended that the emperor grant Guan Yu the title of "Marquis of Hanshou" (漢壽亭侯) and promote him to the rank of a lieutenant general (偏將軍).

Liu Bei's family and his concubine, Qilan, were staying in Cao Cao's territory together with Guan Yu. Cao Cao constantly presented Guan Yu with precious gifts, hoping that the general will be touched and decide to remain by his side, but Guan refused to renounce his loyalty to Liu Bei. When there were news that Liu Bei had sought refuge under Yuan Shao, Guan Yu negotiated with Cao Cao to release Liu Bei's family, and Cao agreed, while Qilan remained behind with Guan. As Cao Cao was aware that Guan Yu was secretly in love with Qilan, he tricked Guan into consuming wine spiked with aphrodisiac, in hope that Guan would express his feelings to Qilan. However, Guan Yu managed to remain rational and did not take his sworn brother's concubine for himself. He and Qilan made preparations to leave Cao Cao after that.

Cao Cao's followers strongly opposed his decision to let Guan Yu leave, as they felt that Guan might become a threat to their lord in future. Despite so, Cao Cao gave a strict order that no one was to stop Guan Yu. However, along the way, Guan Yu encountered resistance and had to fight his way through the passes. He slew Kong Xiu, Han Fu, Meng Tan, Bian Xi, Wang Zhi and Qin Qi consecutively. It was eventually revealed that it was the emperor, and not Cao Cao, who issued the order to kill Guan Yu. After a final conversation, Guan Yu turned his back on Cao Cao and the emperor. He headed to reunite with Liu Bei, fighting on Liu's side against the rival states of Wei and Wu for the next two decades until his death.

The scene then turns back to Guan Yu's funeral. Before the film ends, Cao Cao makes some final remarks on how not him, but others such as Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang, are responsible for Guan Yu's death.
