Plot

Knight and Day follows the adventures of Roy Miller (Tom Cruise), a rogue spy, and June Havens (Cameron Diaz), a car restorer. We see Miller watching Havens, and he bumps into her a couple of times as they go through security at Wichita Airport. Havens is making her way back home to Boston from Wichita after picking up spare parts for her deceased father's classic GTO car, which she is restoring for her sister as a wedding gift. Even though she has a confirmed reservation for her flight, she is told at the gate that it is overbooked. Miller is able to board, whispers to her that she is better off taking the next flight. Unbeknownst to Havens, FBI Special Agent Fitzgerald (Peter Saarsgard) is monitoring Miller's movements and, believing she is working with Miller, puts her back on the flight list.

On board the flight, Havens notices that there are only 4 or 5 other people present. She relaxes with a drink, and Miller chats about his dream of someday driving to Cape Horn while he checks out the other passengers. She is charmed, and goes to the restroom to freshen up. While she is occupied, Miller is attacked by the remaining passengers and crew. All are dispensed, including the pilots. After she emerges from the restroom Miller calmly informs her that everyone onboard is dead. Thinking that he is joking, Havens plays along until Miller enters the cockpit. In a spell of turbulence, she notices the dead bodies falling over in their seats, and spilling onto the aisle. Miller lands the plane on a highway, but skids off the end of the road into a corn field. Miller gives Havens a drink, and explains that she may be questioned by various officials. She is not to get in any vehicle with them, nor accompany them if they suggest taking her away to a "safe" place. Havens passes out due to a knock-out drug in the drink, but awakes at home amongst clues that Miller brought her there, ensuring her safety.

Havens struggles through the day trying on bridesmaid dresses for her sister, April's (Maggie Grace) wedding. Talking over what to do with their dad's GTO car Havens is shocked to learn that April wants to sell it. She is lured out of the shop and is accosted by a group of intelligence agents who, with assurances that she will be safe, drive her away. She is shown some files pertaining to Miller, and is questioned by the agents to determine if she is working with him. Suddenly, Miller shows up, and with much shooting and acrobatics, "rescues" Havens.

Havens doesn't know who or what to believe and flees to the firehall, where her former boyfriend, Rodney (Marc Blucas), works as a firefighter. Upon hearing her story he thinks she is merely stressed from the wedding, and takes her out for pie. While they are chatting, Miller arrives and kidnaps Havens. He handcuffs her and shoots Rodney in the leg, telling him this will all turn him into an overnight hero and virtually guarantee his desired promotion to lieutenant.

Miller explains that Havens is safer with him; and Havens agrees to follow him as they go to pick up Simon Feck (Paul Dano), a genius inventor who created a perpetual energy battery called the Zephyr. Miller arrives at his safe house in New York City where he left Feck. He is missing, but has left clues that he can be found on a train in Austria. The two are immediately ambushed by men belonging to Antonio (Jordi Mollà), a Spanish arms dealer. After Miller again drugs Havens, she drifts in and out of consciousness between their capture and escape from Antonio's men. Miller brings her to an island that is off the grid, which he calls his home. After leaving Miller in frustration to wander the island, Havens notices a message on Miller's cell phone with a Boston address. While studying this, her cell phone rings, showing her sister's caller ID. In answering the phone, she accidentally leads Antonio's group to the hideaway. They try to kill Miller and Havens with a remote drone.

Again knocking out Havens, Miller transports them to a train heading through the Alps. Havens awakes alone and, missing a message from Miller, leaves to get breakfast in the dining car where she encounters Danny (Rich Manley), a German assassin. When she looks at the message, she realizes that Feck is with Miller, and Danny is someone else. Using tricks learned from Miller, Havens manages to survive, and Danny is eventually knocked out of a window by Miller and presumedly killed by a train coming from the opposite direction.

Miller puts Havens and Feck up in a hotel in Salzburg, and heads to a meeting with a mysterious beautiful woman. Havens follows him, and hears him make a deal to sell the Zepher to Antonio. Havens is picked up by the CIA and meets the director of counter-intel, who confirms that Miller is a rogue agent, and gives her a pen to signal them when she is with Miller and the Zepher. Miller meets her back at the hotel, and shows her the Zephyr, which is now showing signs of overheating. Havens uses a pen transmitter to notify the agents, but Miller escapes to the roof-tops. After leading the CIA agents on a chase, Miller is apparently shot and falls into a canal.

Havens is sent home by the agents in time to stand at her sister's wedding. When Havens hears the song that Miller used as his ring-tone, she heads to the address she remembered from his iPhone. She meets the people at the address, and realizes that they are Miller's parents. She learns that Miller's real name is Matthew Knight. They believe their son, a former Army sergeant and Eagle Scout, is dead; but they are fabulously wealthy from winning lotteries and sweepstakes they don't remember entering.

Havens leaves the Knights', and calls her own voice mail, leaving a message that she has the Zephyr. She is quickly captured by Antonio's men and taken back to Spain. She is drugged with truth serum, which makes her relaxed and happy. Antonio realizes that she doesn't have the Zephyr, and the only way he can get the device is to pay Fitzgerald who has kidnapped Feck. Miller has been following Feck using a tracking app on his iPhone, and stumbles upon Havens in the Spaniard's compound. Havens is rescued as she is being taken out for execution. They pursue Fitzgerald and Feck on a motorcycle, while eluding Antonio's men during the Running of the Bulls.

Fitzgerald is able to escape in an amphibious plane with the now extremely hot Zephyr while Miller is grazed by a bullet as he saves Feck. Feck comments that the battery is unstable. As they watch the plane climb, the battery explodes, killing Fitzgerald.

Miller collapses from the gunshot wound, but wakes in a hospital. He receives an apology from the director (Viola Davis), who tells him that he routed out a corrupt team. He asks about Havens, and is told that she has returned home. He is warned that he can't be distracted, and must forget her to continue with his job. The Director also explains to Miller that the Agency will "Transfer you to a secure facility tomorrow, for your safety" using the same wording that he warned Havens about. As they leave, a nurse enters, and gives Miller his medication. Miller realizes that he's been drugged, but then sees that the nurse is Havens.

Miller comes to in the rebuilt classic car that belonged to Havens' father. After he asks what day it is, Havens kisses him and says it's someday. She drives off, traveling along a coastal road past a signpost for Cape Horn. The final scene shows Roy's mom telling her husband that they have just received two tickets to Cape Horn. Though she blames her husband for ordering them by mistake, she insists that they go.

toy story 3

Plot

Andy, who is now seventeen years old, has outgrown his old toys, some of which have been either sold or given away. The others have been stored in his toy box and are being kept there while Andy prepares for college. He decides to take Woody with him and packs the other toys in a garbage bag, intending to store them in the attic, but Andy's mom mistakenly puts the bag out on the roadside as garbage. Believing that Andy no longer wants them, the toys sneak into a box to be donated to Sunnyside Daycare. Woody, who saw what really happened, tries to clear up the misunderstanding, but the others refuse to listen.

The toys are driven to Sunnyside where they receive a warm welcome from the daycare toys, led by Lots-O'-Huggin' Bear (a.k.a. Lotso). Woody tries to convince the others to return to Andy, but they feel that they would be happier at Sunnyside, so they let him leave without them. The others soon discover the children Lotso assigned them with are too young, and they are innocently abused and tortured. Meanwhile, Molly's Barbie, who was also donated begins to fall for Ken, who is Lotso's right hand man and is also falling for Barbie. Buzz goes to ask Lotso to transfer them to the older children, but learns they were put in the younger children's room on purpose and is caught by some of the Sunnyside toys and reset to his original, deluded space ranger self.

During his escape from Sunnyside, Woody is found and taken in by a girl from the daycare named Bonnie. One of Bonnie's toys named Chuckles reveals to Woody the truth about Lotso and Sunnyside: Lotso, Chuckles and Lotso's chief enforcer Big Baby, had once been owned by a little girl named Daisy, but Lotso snapped after his owner lost and replaced him, so he took over Sunnyside and turned it into a prison. At the daycare, the others discover that Andy is looking for them when Mrs. Potato Head sees him through her missing eye, which was lost in Andy's room. The toys try to leave but are imprisoned by Lotso and his henchmen, including Buzz in his demo mode.

Woody returns to Sunnyside to help his friends break out, when he runs into Chatter Telephone, who tells him that the only way out of Sunnyside is through a garbage chute. Together, the toys formulate an escape plan involving returning Buzz to normal, and taking out a cymbal-banging monkey in the security camera room. During the escape, the toys accidentally reset Buzz to his Spanish mode during the escape, after which he joins their side (believing they know where his spaceship is) and impresses Jessie. The toys use a garbage chute to reach a dumpster outside the daycare, but Lotso and his henchmen catch them (having beaten Chatter Telephone for telling Woody how to break out). Ken protects Andy's toys, saying that being in love with Barbie has changed him, and that he has turned against Lotso. Woody explains to Lotso's henchmen about Lotso's past, and when Lotso finally goes too far, Big Baby throws Lotso in the dumpster. Lotso pulls Woody into the dumpster just before a garbage truck arrives, forcing the others (besides Barbie and Ken) to rescue him. In the chaos of falling garbage, Buzz rescues Jessie from being crushed, which results in a broken TV falling on him, resetting him to normal, with no memory of his other modes.

The toys arrive at a waste plant where they are pushed onto a conveyor belt. The toys use the ceiling (a magnet) to escape a shredder, but find Lotso stuck under a golf bag calling for help. Woody and Buzz manage to rescue him just in time. Soon the toys discover that the conveyor belt is taking them to an incinerator. Lotso discovers an emergency stop button and gets Woody to help him up the ladder toward it. But when he reaches the button, he betrays his rescuers and refuses to push it, causing them to fall into the chute of the incinerator. They hold hands in solidarity when they realize there is no way out, and are carried slowly towards the flame. At the last minute, they are rescued by a claw crane operated by the squeeze toy aliens. Later, Lotso is found by a garbage man, who ties him to the front of his truck.

The toys return to Andy's house on a garbage truck and prepare to be stored in the attic. Woody decides he and his friends would better serve their purpose elsewhere. He writes a message on a post-it note and sticks it on the box with all the toys inside. After reading the message, Andy takes the toys to Bonnie. He introduces each toy individually and is surprised to find Woody included, but decides to let Bonnie have him. Then together with Bonnie, Andy plays with his toys one more time before he leaves for college. As Andy drives off, Woody sadly waves goodbye to his former owner, and he is immediately comforted by Buzz and then introduces his old friends to his new friends.

As the credits roll, the conditions for new arrivals at Sunnyside has vastly improved. It is revealed that Barbie and Ken are now in charge of Sunnyside and are making it a nice place for toys. The toys now take turns putting up with the younger children rather than forcing a certain group to put up with all of it. The toys at Bonnie's house keep in touch with those at Sunnyside by slipping notes through Bonnie's backpack.

Plot

In inner city London, a street dance crew is on the verge of breaking up after its leader, Jay, leaves the group unexpectedly. The group loses the use of their rehearsal space, forcing them to try and raise money or practice in other locations. Eventually they secure a space in a ballet school, on the condition that they include five ballet dancers in their routine. At first, they struggle to get along, but they all become friends in the end.

One of the teachers at the ballet school, Helena, takes Carly to a ballet where she starts getting ideas for their routine. When she arrives home, Carly finds Jay waiting for her and the two spend the night together. During a dance battle in a club the next night, the team learn that Jay has betrayed the team by joining The Surge, a rival crew. Jay brags about his sex with Carly and Thomas, a ballet dancer, punches Jay out of anger. Jay is furious and swears revenge. Carly, upset over the betrayal, leaves the club and is nearly hit by a car before Thomas pulls her out of the way. Thomas then takes Carly back to his apartment where they dance on the roof, eventually kissing. Carly panics however and slaps Thomas and leaves.

The next day at the school, Carly announces the new name of their dance crew: Breaking Point. Another teacher at the school, outraged that her students are being corrupted, deliberately plans a Royal Ballet audition for the same day as the street dance finals. The Ballet dancers promise Carly they will make it but the auditions were running overtime.

In an attempt to give Breaking Point more time to wait for the ballet dancers, Carly's friend Eddie (George Sampson) goes out onto the dance floor and starts dancing, surprising the crew. The ballet team turn up at the final anyway, and their teacher Helena drives the judges to the final so they can see the dancers perform. However just before they go on Jay corners Thomas and offers him a choice: Either he does the competition and Jay'll sue or Thomas leaves Carly's crew and Jay'll leave him alone. Thomas panics but is pushed on by Carly. The routine is a success, Carly and Thomas kiss after the performance, and the crowd is enthralled. Jay is furious that the Surge have been beaten and he's lost Carly. So he corners Thomas afterwards and picks a fight with him. Carly walks in on it and a fight ensues. Jay is knocked out by Thomas and he and Carly kiss.

The film ends with Breaking Point and Surge dancing to N-Dubz' "We Dance On".

Plot

The story revolves around an illegal immigrant, Machete (Danny Trejo), a former Mexican Federale turned renegade. After a shakedown with a druglord (Steven Seagal), Machete roams Texas looking to do yard work in exchange for money. Michael Booth (Jeff Fahey), a local businessman and spin doctor, explains to Machete that the corrupt Senator McLaughlin (Robert De Niro) is sending hundreds of illegals out of the country. In order to stop this, Booth offers Machete $150,000 to kill McLaughlin. Machete accepts the murder contract. As Machete attempts to assassinate McLaughlin during a rally, he is double-crossed and one of Booth's henchmen shoots him. It is revealed that Booth orchestrated the entire attempted assassination as part of a false flag operation to gain public support for McLaughlin's harsh anti-illegal-immigration laws. By setting up Machete as the patsy, the conspirators make it appear that an outlaw illegal Mexican immigrant has tried to assassinate the senator.

An injured Machete is taken to a hospital to be treated for wounds, and escapes from Booth's henchmen sent to kill him. Agent Santana Rivera (Jessica Alba), a persistent U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent, is sent by her superior to go find and capture the injured Machete. Machete, with the help of Shé (Michelle Rodriguez) recruits Padre (Cheech Marin), Machete's "holy" brother. To take revenge on Booth, Machete kidnaps Booth's wife and his daughter, April (Lindsay Lohan), who has a penchant for guns. After encountering Machete, Santana begins to develop an interest in him. Machete rallies a group of illegal immigrants together, and begins to hunt the people who double crossed him.[7]

Rock star Aldous Snow (Russell Brand) releases an album and an accompanying single "African Child." The song and music video flops, is banned and called "the worst thing to happen to Africa since the apartheid" by NME. His girlfriend Jackie Q (Rose Byrne) takes custody of their son, Naples, and leaves him; as a result he starts drinking and doing drugs excessively once again.

Meanwhile, In Los Angeles, Aaron Green (Jonah Hill) is a driven, idealistic young college graduate who works as a low-level talent scout at Pinnacle Records. He lives with his girlfriend Daphne (Elisabeth Moss), a doctor in her internship, but they do not get to see each other often due to her heavy work schedule. Pinnacle Records has lost a lot of money, so the head of the company, Sergio Roma (Sean "Diddy" Combs), asks for ideas. Green proposes to have Aldous Snow play at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles for the tenth anniversary of a particularly famous performance there. One month later, he sends Aaron to London to retrieve Aldous. Before leaving, Aaron visits sleep-deprived Daphne at her hospital to tell her that he'll be gone for a few days. She informs Aaron that she received a job offer at a hospital in Seattle, where she will have a less hectic work schedule. Aaron doesn't appreciate her insisting that they move to Seattle and leave their current jobs behind, and an argument ensues and leads to an implied break-up.

After retrieving Aldous from his apartment, Aaron tries desperately to control Aldous' rambunctious behavior, which causes them to miss several flights. They bar-hop across the city for several hours, leaving a trail of women and alcohol in their wake. Daphne calls him to apologize for the fight, but Aaron already believes that they had broken up. Throughout this partying, buttons on Aaron's cell phone (placed in his pocket) accidentally call his girlfriend, and his girlfriend overhears him partying with other women.

Once the two have made it to New York, they proceed to Aldous' Welcome Back performance on the Today Show. Aaron receives word from Sergio to keep Aldous sober for his performance, and Aaron consumes all of Aldous' alcohol and marijuana on the way to the program. Minutes before the performance, Aldous realizes that he is unable to remember the lyrics to his favorite song African Child, shortly after Aaron had admitted to African Child being his least favorite Infant Sorrow song. Placing resentment and blame on Aaron, he sends him on a frenzy of drunk desperation in search of the lyrics. Aaron is unable to complete this task, and after the first few bars of African Child, Aldous stops his band, and plays one of his older hits called "The Clap" to cheers and excitement from the audience. Aaron had also mentioned earlier that The Clap is his personal favorite.

While preparing to fly to Los Angeles, Aldous forces Aaron to smuggle heroin in his anus. During their travels and time in London and New York, Aaron learns that Aldous has become miserable and lonely, as he misses his son and has not seen any signs of genuine love from his own dad in years. Aaron shares his relationship troubles, and Aldous encourages him to enjoy his time in Los Angeles. Giving advice to Aldous, Aaron suggests he visits Jackie Q and his father and so the two make a stop in Las Vegas the night prior to the show to see Aldous's father. Sergio also arrives, wanting to help oversee the final proceedings. Sergio hooks up Aaron with a ditzy, sexually rambunctious girl named Destiny, who takes him to a room, shows him her pubic hair and anally rapes him. During this, his phone against accidentally calls his Daphne and she hears an out-of-context sample of what is going on. After Aaron tells Aldous that he has been raped, the other men laugh it off, and they encourage him to smoke a "Geoffrey", a joint which is eventually described as "a neapolitan of drugs". Upon being told about the extra ingredients in the Geoffrey, Aaron panics and starts believing he is having a heart attack (he is actually just having a bad trip). Aldous' father repeatedly says that it is a heart attack, making the trip worse, whilst Aldous repeatedly attempts to calm Aaron down by telling him "to stroke the furry wall". Aldous has a fight with his father; Sergio jumps in the fight (also high on Geoffrey), and their tussle ends up setting the hotel room on fire. Aldous attempts to help Aaron with an adrenaline shot to the heart and they run out of the hotel, chased by Sergio who is then hit by a car.

Aldous and Aaron are driven to Los Angeles, where Snow visits Jackie Q, his old girlfriend. She has been sleeping with Metallica's drummer, Lars Ulrich (and is apparently engaged to him), and confesses to Aldous that Naples is not actually his biological son. This depresses him even further. Meanwhile, Aaron goes to his home to apologize to Daphne. The are interrupted when Aldous Snow comes to their house and becomes involved in the conversation. Snow proposes that he, Aaron, and Daphne engage in a threesome because Aaron had been with other women during his time with Aldous Snow. During the threesome, resentful Aaron angrily decides to kiss Aldous, eventually ending the threesome. Daphne feels horrible about the threesome, and storms out of the room. Aaron angrily tells Aldous to go, and criticizes Aldous' overall mental state.

Instead of preparing for his show, Aldous goes to the rooftop of the Standard Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles, and calls Aaron, threatening to jump. Aaron rushes to the hotel rooftop pool in an attempt to coax Aldous down from the roof. Aldous attempts to jump down to the pool instead of killing himself, and accidentally shatters his arm against the poolside. Aldous tells Aaron that he is lonely and feels unconnected to people. Aaron tells Aldous that he is trying too hard, and that thousands of fans love him and are waiting just to see his face. Aldous Snow, inspired by Aaron's words, decides to go and perform at the Greek theatre. Aaron tries to take him to the hospital, but Aldous insists on making it to his performance at the Greek. Upon his arrival, Sergio attempts to offer Aaron drugs to give to Aldous to ease the pain he is in. Aaron angrily refuses and quits his job on the spot. He walks stage-side with Aldous, trying to convince him one last time to go to the hospital instead. However, Aaron sees how happy Aldous is performing and allows him to continue while he himself goes home and reconciles with his girlfriend. Months later in Seattle (where Aaron and his girlfriend have moved), a healthier and sober Aldous Snow has returned to fame with a single produced by Aaron based on events from their night in Las Vegas, performing on the VH1 Storytellers program.

It has been widely reported previously that Proton will be introducing a turbocharged engine sometime next year and the Exora would be the first vehicle to run the engine. Proton has reiterated it’s intentions yet again. The company has confirmed to Bernama that it will debut the force-inducted engine with the Exora MPV next year.

Speaking to reporters after the company’s annual general meeting, group managing director Datuk Syed Zainal said, “The engine will support Proton’s future products in relation to extending enhanced performance, emissions and quality standards.’ He also added that the performance of the engine would be equivalent to a 2.0 liter engine.

He did not reveal further details about the engine, but we can expect it to be based on the 1.6 Campro, with or without CPS. Syed Zainal also mentioned that Proton will launch a facelift version of an existing model before end of the year. This could well be the Saga facelift, as we have recently spotted a taped-up version near Bukit Jelutong. As reported previously, the new Proton Waja will be introduced this year as well. Based on the Mitsubishi Lancer, the new model would carry a slightly higher price tag as it will be offered with better performance and features.

He also spoke about Proton’s involvement in the hybrid and electric vehicles arena. “Proton has started on the development of the hybrid and electric vehicles which are currently being subjected to performance evaluation, testing and safety assessment,” were his exact words. The company has already showcased the Saga EV in Indonesia and we have also seen the Exora Hybrid demonstrator vehicle.

Proton also expects to better it’s export figures compared to the last fiscal year as interest in China, Thailand and Indonesia is growing. The company’s chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh also went on to confirm that Proton has no intention to off-load Lotus at the moment. “We have no intention to dispose of Lotus at this point in time. By having Lotus within the group we will have better benefit,” he assured.

robin hood

The Cannes film festival has picked the most rousing possible opener with this new cinema treatment of the Robin Hood legend. Gladiator may be 10 years ago now, but director Ridley Scott has had his persistent faith in Russell Crowe amply rewarded; Crowe may be puffier of face, hoarser of voice and done rather too much confrontational living in public, but he still has exactly the right kind of leading-man steel to make this ambitious, serious and unashamedly populist epic work.

  1. Robin Hood
  2. Production year: 2010
  3. Countries: Rest of the world, UK, USA
  4. Cert (UK): 12A
  5. Runtime: 140 mins
  6. Directors: Ridley Scott
  7. Cast: Cate Blanchett, Danny Huston, Kevin Durand, Mark Strong, Matthew MacFadyen, Max von Sydow, Russell Crowe, Scott Grimes, William Hurt
  8. More on this film

With so many variants of the story already filmed, Scott and his screenwriter, Brian Helgeland, have gone for what, if this was a superhero film, would be called an origin myth: it finishes at pretty much the point most tellings of the tale start. Scott's Robin Hood is not a story of derring-do in Sherwood Forest, nor is it of merry chaps in Lincoln green outsmarting the vile sheriff of Nottingham; it's a story of dispossession and rebellion that manages to cleverly link together most of the seemingly irreconcilable elements of the Hood myth, and wrap it all up in a warm, fuzzy ball of pro-democratic class consciousness.

Things get under way as Richard the Lionheart is killed while besieging a French castle, supposedly heading home to England from the crusades.

Among his army is one Robin Longstride (Crowe), a common archer who by various flukes too numerous to mention ends up in possession of the dead king's crown as well as the identity of one of Richard's most trusted retainers, Robert of Loxley, also dead. (This allows the Hood character to both partake in the aristocratic mien of a figure required to direct military operations, and also to retain a little peasant-class credibility, so necessary for that steal-from-the-rich thing he has going.)

Longstride/Loxley fakes his way back to England, is present at the coronation of Richard's weaselly brother John, then heads north to present Loxley's sword to his father, honouring the dead man's last wish. And here's the clever bit: Loxley senior suggests himself the same deception, that Longstride should pass for Loxley, even to the extent of occupying the same bedchamber as Robert's wife, Marian (Cate Blanchett).

The scene is then set for a broad, sweeping, fiendishly complicated narrative, in which Longstride must fend off the depredations of vicious skinhead Mark Strong (playing someone called Godfrey, who is both toady to King John and treasonous conspirator against him), deliver a stirring speech promoting a Magna Carta-type charter of liberties, see off an invasion attempt by the king of France, and rescue Marian from near-certain death in the surf.

It isn't till it's all over that you realise that the sheriff of Nottingham is only a footnote, reduced to a couple of buffoonish walk-on lines.

Scott orchestrates the sound and fury with a seemingly effortless bravura: unfussily pulling off a profusion of tremendous action scenes and really quite impressive period backdrops (including one CGI panorama of medieval London that looks like a Wenceslaus Hollar engraving come to life).

Only once does the strain show: the invading French turn up on the English coast in a sequence rather obviously lifted from Saving Private Ryan, even down to the carnage in the water. (It's as if Scott is saying: anything you can do, Spielberg …)

Scott is also well served by some terrific performances: particularly Blanchett, who takes advantage of a beefed-up Marian role to really burn up the screen.

Whether this will quite do the same for Crowe as Gladiator remains to be seen; it's hard for a film that is painted in such sombre browns and dull greens to be especially inspirational. But there's no doubting the strength and excellence of the film-making on display.

This is strong stuff.

ni orang kata bukan aku..

Jalan cerita.
Awal – Best, banyak humor. Realistik.

Middle – Start jiwang bunga bunga pabila Kasyah dan Ayu berkenalan.

Klimax – Kasha pergi buat kajian selama setahun, Ayu dot dot dot dot dan tiba tiba muncul Emilia. Boleh dikatakan setiap scene semasa kemunculan Emilia ni kantoi dan kasi spoil satu cerita.

Middle – Cerita dah agak ntah ape ape. Function Kasyah-Ayu-Emilia macam hilang seketika.

Penutup – Sampah. Ntah apa apa, terlampau banyak tanda soal dan tak brapa real.

ninja sorang2

Plot

Kamui is a ninja from the Edo period who has decided to leave his clan. After doing so he is pursued relentlessly by the members of his former clan; who consider him to be a traitor and therefore wish to kill him. Kamui then wanders around Japan to escape from them by using his intelligence and great abilities to survive. In the course of the series Kamui begins to suffer from paranoia because of his status as a persecuted man. Kamui then started to believe that everybody wished to murder him and became distrusting of everyone he came across.

KAMUI: THE LONE NINJA

Stars: Ken’ichi Matsuyama, Koyuki, Koichi Sato, Ekin Cheng, Yuta Kanai, Suzuka Ohgo | Written by Sai and Kankuro Kudo | Directed by Yoichi San

It’s 17th century Japan and from a young age Kamui has been considered something of an outcast, even within his own ninja clan. Disillusioned with the laws and principles which dictate that he must use his skills to kill others, Kamui chooses to leave his past behind him and go in search of true freedom. But for a ninja freedom comes at a price and the only way to escape the bonds of the ninja brotherhood is to die.

Now a fugitive on the run from his clan, who are determined to hunt him down and eliminate him for his betrayal, Kamui finds himself constantly fighting for his life and unable to trust anyone. He eventually finds some solace when he meets an indomitable fisherman who saves his life and invites him to settle with his family. Unexpectedly, the arrangement brings Kamui face to face with a long-forgotten nemesis of his, another renegade ninja with a deadly score to settle. Meanwhile, the ninja army hunting Kamui is setting a trap from which there can be no escape.

Kamui: The Lone Ninja is based on the 60’s manga series created by Japanese artist Sanpei Shirato… which turns out to be both the film’s biggest strength and its biggest flaw. Strength in that the film comes with an inherant visual style and story, but flaw in that the film pays too much reverance to the original source material, even going as far as re-creating scenes from the manga, scenes I may add that are humanly impossible, in what are badly-executed CGI fight scenes. Essentially plot-less, the film meanders through admittedly gorgeous visuals (in particular during the scenes set in the fishing village), with the slow pacing being Kamui’s ultimate downfall – I doubt many will get through the film in one sitting, I know I struggled.

The film is not without ambition however, but it looks like there wasn’t the budget to justice to that ambition. There are some superbly staged fights – on land, sea, and in the tree tops – but the lack of budget really shows in these scenes, with some particularly terrible CGI when Kamui does his trademark ninja death move, the “Well Bucket Drop.” The huge end battle is also let down by poor CGI, leaving what should have been an epic, jaw-dropping spectacle feel cold and unfulfilling…

Plot

A group of elite mercenaries, the Expendables, are deployed to the Gulf of Aden off the coast of Somalia to halt local pirates from executing the hostages. The team consists of leader Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), former SAS soldier and blades specialist Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), martial artist Yin Yang (Jet Li), sniper Gunner Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), weapons specialist Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) and demolitions expert Toll Road (Randy Couture). Jensen instigates a firefight, causing casualties for the pirates. Yang and Jensen fight over moral disagreements about hanging a pirate, with Ross finally intervening. As a result of his psychological problems and drug use, Ross reluctantly releases Jensen from the Expendables.

Ross and his rival mercenary leader Trench (Arnold Schwarzenegger) visit a church to meet a man, simply named "Mr. Church" (Bruce Willis). Church offers them a mission in Vilena, a fictional island in the Gulf of Mexico, to overthrow a brutal dictator, General Garza (David Zayas). Busy with other things, Trench gives the contract to Ross. Meanwhile, Christmas visits his girlfriend, Lacy (Charisma Carpenter), whom he discovers has left him for another man. He leaves in a fit of rage, while Lacy insists her actions had occurred because she does not see Christmas often and does not even know what he does.

Ross and Christmas do initial reconnaissance after meeting with their contact, Sandra (Gisele Itié), only for the mission to go awry. Ross learns that Garza is backed by ex-CIA agent James Munroe (Eric Roberts) as well as his henchmen Paine (Steve Austin) and The Brit (Gary Daniels), who manipulate and keep Garza in power by making his people fear him. Sandra is revealed to be Garza's daughter. Ross decides to abort and causes casualties among the army as they escape, but they leave Sandra behind. Meanwhile, Jensen approaches Garza and Munroe to help their side.

Christmas visits Lacy again to find that her new boyfriend has beaten her. Christmas brutally beats him and his friends, showing Lacy what he does for a living and winning her over. Later, Ross, Christmas, and Yang deduce that Mr. Church is a member of the CIA and that the real target is Munroe, as the CIA could not kill one of their own. Ross meets mission coordinator and former teammate Tool (Mickey Rourke) to vent out his feelings of guilt. Tool makes an emotional confession to Ross about letting a woman commit suicide during the Bosnian War. Hearing this, Ross decides to go back for Sandra, telling Christmas and Yang he will do it alone. Yang however tags along; while driving they are chased on the road by Jensen in an intense shootout. The pursuit ends in an abandoned warehouse, where Yang and Jensen fight a second time. Jensen attempts to impale Yang on a pipe, only to be shot by Ross. A wounded Jensen makes amends and gives the layout of Garza's palace. Ross boards the plane with Yang and finds the rest of team, ready to aid their friend.

The Expendables infiltrate Garza's compound. Christmas, Yang, Caesar, and Toll plant explosive charges throughout the site. When Garza has a change of heart after Munroe tortures his daughter, Munroe kills him. The entire team fights and shoots their way through Garza's soldiers. Ross and Caesar manage to destroy the helicopter Munroe was to escape on. Christmas and Yang manage to kill The Brit while Toll kills Paine. Ross and Christmas catch up to Munroe and kill him, saving Sandra. Instead of taking the payment for the mission, Ross gives it to Sandra to restore Vilena. The team celebrates their victory at Tool's tattoo parlor, with the reformed and recovering Jensen. Christmas and Tool challenge each other to a game of knife throwing and Christmas recites a poem about his respect for Tool, before throwing the knife perfectly in the center of the board, then the credits roll.

rock punyer kem

Plot

Mitchie Torres (Demi Lovato) returns to Camp Rock to be reunited with all of her camp friends. Shane Gray (Joe Jonas) and his band mates and brothers Jason (Kevin Jonas) and Nate (Nick Jonas) arrive at camp in a chicken wagon after their bus had fallen into the lake. Meanwhile, Axel Turner (Daniel Kash), the director of the new Camp Star located across the lake, invites Camp Rock to attend a friendly bonfire. After seeing Camp Star's musical performance headlined by Luke Williams (Matthew "Mdot" Finley), Camp Star's top performer, many campers, including former Camp Rock diva Tess Tyler (Meaghan Jette Martin), decide to leave Camp Rock and join Camp Star along with many of the staff after Axel promises to double their salaries. Tess quickly becomes partners with Luke on all of Camp Star's performances. Although they sing very well together and look like they make a great team onstage, they constantly fight over the spotlight and believe that competition is all that matters. Meanwhile, Nate falls in love with Dana Turner (Chloe Bridges), daughter of Axel; however, Dana's father refuses to let her to talk to him because he is the competition.

Since most of Camp Rock's staff has left, Mitchie and her gang of friends who have stayed behind take it upon themselves to be Camp Rock counselors. At first, the new counselors struggle to keep up with their new schedules, and Shane becomes frustrated that he and Mitchie aren't spending enough time together. But eventually everyone finds their niche. When discussing the future of Camp Rock, Mitchie and her friends plan a musical showdown between the two camps at Final Jam. Camp Star agrees as Axel suggests they should challenge each other to Camp Wars, a musical showdown being broadcast live on TV. Axel texts and tweets every mobile phone in the western hemisphere persuading people to vote for Camp Star.

Although Camp Rock put their heart and soul into their performance with Shane and Mitchie singing lead vocals, the rest of the campers as dancers and musicians, and a video made by Trevor (Frankie Jonas) of their time together airing during the song, Camp Star wins (most likely due to Axel's biased ad campaign) which leaves Mitchie and her friends devastated as it means that Camp Rock will now have to close down. Despite the loss, Camp Rock's performance earns great applause from the crowd and Tess is shown to feel bad about the win as she knows Camp Rock deserved it. The remaining Camp Rock staff and campers return to Camp Rock and gather and sing around the campfire one last time together. As they enjoy themselves, many of Camp Star's campers including Tess and Dana show up having seen the bonfire and ask to join in. Shane and Mitchie share a kiss. Led by Tess, some members of Camp Star except Luke request to go to Camp Rock the next summer because it is much more fun than Camp Star, meaning that Camp Rock will have enough campers to stay alive for another summer.
